# Legal

These documents cover the caveman.so website, the hosted Caveman Cloud service, the `caveman` CLI and our other tools. Caveman Labs, Inc. publishes them. Every document is also Markdown at its URL plus `.md`, for agents and scripts. For questions, privacy requests or help with any product, write to [contact@caveman.so](mailto:contact@caveman.so).

## Agreements

- [Terms of Service](/terms): the contract for using Caveman Cloud and the website.
- [Acceptable Use Policy](/legal/acceptable-use): what you may and may not do with the service.
- [Data Processing Agreement](/legal/dpa): the GDPR Article 28 terms for personal data we process on your behalf. It forms part of the Terms.

## Privacy

- [Privacy Policy](/privacy): what personal data we collect, why, who receives it, how long we keep it, and how you control it. It covers the website, Caveman Cloud, the CLI and local tools, our plugins and MCP servers, and the Caveman Mode browser extension.
- [Cookie Policy](/legal/cookies): the cookies and browser storage we use, and why there are no tracking cookies.
- [Sub-processors](/legal/subprocessors): the companies that help us run the service, what each one does and where.
- [Data use summary](/data-use): what we collect on each plan, as a table.

## Open source

The Caveman skill, CLI, local Proxy, SDKs, middleware, Browse and browser extension are open source under the Apache License 2.0. Caveman Code and the standalone cavemem package use the MIT License, and CaveGemma's weights follow the Gemma Terms of Use. Earlier releases keep the licence they shipped with. Those licences govern the open-source code. The Terms of Service govern the hosted service.

## Self-hosted and enterprise deployments

If Caveman Cloud runs in your own cloud account or environment, your written agreement with Caveman governs that deployment. A self-hosted install does not send your data to Caveman. The `caveman` CLI's usage telemetry is separate: it is on by default, including when the CLI signs in to your own installation, until you turn it off with `caveman telemetry off`.
